Apply & Register at Foothill College

Welcome! We’re excited you’re considering Foothill College. Applying and registering is a multi-step process, but don’t worry—we'll walk you through it clearly and simply.

This page is designed to help you:

  • Understand what happens at each step
  • Know what to expect (and what emails/IDs you’ll receive)
  • Avoid common points of confusion

We're Accepting Admission Applications for Spring 2026

  • Classes run on the quarter system, with late-start classes and a shortened summer session.
  • For important dates and deadlines, see Academic Calendar.
  • Foothill has an open-door admission policy for all high-school graduates and non-graduates who are 18 years of age or older.

Filling Out the Application

If you have never applied for admission to Foothill College or you are a returning student and it's been awhile, please review these steps  to help you with the process BEFORE accessing the Foothill OpenCCC Apply application.

All students must start here.

When you click Apply Now, you’ll be taken to CCC Apply, the official application system for all 116 California Community Colleges.

What happens in this step:

  • You create a CCC Apply profile (this is required for any CA community college)
  • You receive a CCC ID (Note: this is NOT your Foothill ID)

Important: A CCC ID contains letters and numbers. This ID cannot be used to register for classes or access Foothill services.

Due to statewide fraud prevention requirements, most students must complete identity verification before moving forward.

You’ll be asked to verify your identity using one of these options:

  • ID.me
  • DMV Wallet

This step may include:

  • Taking a photo of your ID
  • Taking a short selfie or video using your camera

You must complete identity verification to continue your application.

Once verification is complete, you should be automatically directed to the Foothill College application.

After completing CCC Apply and identity verification, you’ll submit your Foothill College application.

What happens next:

  • Foothill receives your application
  • Within 1–24 hours, you’ll receive a Foothill College ID (CWID)

NOTE: If you don’t receive anything during the first 24 hours, please contact the Admissions and Records Office.

Your Foothill College ID (CWID)

  • 8-digit number
  • Numbers only (no letters)
  • This is the ID you’ll use to:
    • Register for classes
    • Access student services
    • Make counseling appointments

Don’t confuse your CCC ID with your CWID—they are different.

Choosing a Major Matters

When completing your Foothill application, you’ll be asked to choose a major and educational goal.

Avoid selecting “Undecided. Students who choose “Undecided” do not receive priority registration.

TIP: Choose the option that best fits your current interests—you can change your major later.
