Tutoring Programs
The following programs are available for students of Foothill College.
Pass the Torch is a peer-to-peer tutoring program that supports students in core courses in English, ESLL, and Math. You’ll work with trained student tutors who understand your coursework and can help you build confidence, strengthen skills, and stay on track. Visit the Pass the Torch page on Canvas to learn more about the program.
LRC Tutoring for STEM offers free drop-in tutoring to support your learning in Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Math, and Physics. You can get help with homework, concepts, and exam preparation from knowledgeable tutors in a supportive, welcoming environment.
What was once the Writing and Language Center (WLC) and STEM Center, has transitioned to a combined service format -- Tutoring across all subjects. Whether you are working on an essay for an English class, a research assignment for your geography class, learning a language, or working through a scholarship essay, our tutors are here to help online or on-campus!
We acknowledge the value of providing our services in more than one modality to make our tutoring accessible to all students. Most of our tutoring services and workshops are available online via our online office space LRC Zoom room, as well as on-campus in building 3600 each quarter.
If you complete English 1A in your first year, you are more likely to succeed in college. English Summer Bridge helps you build confidence and strengthen your reading, thinking, and writing skills so you are ready for English 1A. All Foothill students can take English 1A in their first quarter, but some students are placed in a co-requisite support class. When you complete English Summer Bridge, you can take English 1A in fall quarter without the co-requisite support class.
The Math Performance Success (MPS) program connects students with instructors, counselors, and tutors who work together to support learning and success in math.
Join us for a holistic Summer Bridge Math program featuring campus tours and an introduction to the many academic and student support services available at Foothill College.
This program is designed to build your confidence in math and strengthen essential skills, helping you prepare for the next level of math coursework.
