About Our Program

Our Adaptive Learning Community-Based Education program has earned recognition across the Peninsula and South Bay as a leading provider of non-credit leisure education, including drawing and painting, writing, stress reduction and more. Our instructors have a longstanding reputation for academic excellence, and they are committed to helping students succeed at every stage of adulthood. The program promotes the physical, intellectual and social well-being of adults, by helping them to stay active and involved in community life. To accomplish this goal, instruction and classroom activities are planned to meet student needs and interests. All classes are tailored to the capabilities of disabled adults.

Responding to diverse community needs, the Community-Based Disabled Students Program exists, through innovative and comprehensive educational programs, to provide lifetime opportunities for continued growth, development, and involvement which enhance the quality of life of students with disabilities.

Program Objectives

  • Provide access to educational opportunities through academic programs offered at community-based sites.
  • Provide access to educational opportunities through vocational programs offered at community-based sites.
  • Offer classes to develop the maximum cognitive, physical, emotional and social potential of the individual.
  • Develop and upgrade job skills to meet the demands of competitive employment.
  • Provide an opportunity to learn skills to overcome specific limitations to achieve the highest level of independence.

Course Descriptions

Our Community-Based Education program offers a wide range of engaging, adult-focused classes designed to inspire creativity, stimulate the mind, and build connection. Students can explore courses such as Art Appreciation, Music Appreciation, World News Discussion, Current Events, and Travel Study, along with classes centered on Social Change and Verbal Expression. Creative offerings include Creative Writing, Crafts, Drawing and Painting, and Creative Self Expression, while practical and communication-support options such as Lip Reading and Relaxation Techniques help students develop valuable skills for everyday life.
