Get Started to use Canvas to teach
Before you can teach an online course at Foothill you must participate in our Online Teaching with Canvas course. Fill out the following form to get started.
Learn how to manage your live Canvas site
Several weeks before the start of each quarter, your Canvas courses will appear unpublished on your Canvas Dashboard where you can populate them with your course content.

Regular Substantive Interaction (RSI) is a key part of online teaching that ensures meaningful engagement between instructors and students. Foothill College requires faculty teaching online to complete professional learning in RSI. This 2-part process must be completed before teaching online courses.

Canvas Student Orientation
Not sure how to use Canvas? You can attend a live Zoom session during the first week of the quarter, or you can step through the online tutorials.
Get free access to Microsoft 365!
Do you need access to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Sway? Foothill offers you free access while you are enrolled in courses.
Get Course Information
You can find out more detailed information about a course by searching the class schedule and then clicking on the name of the instructor. This will take you to the Foothill Directory entry for that instructor where you can find more information about each of their courses.
Search the Class Schedule
To find fully online asynchronous courses make sure the Modality is set to Online and that the course section ends with the letter “W”.

Course Information
To find out more about a course and the instructor, select the instructor's name. This will take you to the Foothill Directory entry for that instructor.
Note that not all instructors provide more information about their course.
