About Canvas
Canvas by Instructure is the Course Management System (CMS) used in all online and hybrid courses at Foothill College. Some in-person courses may also use Canvas.
For Students
When you enroll in a course at Foothill that uses Canvas you will automatically be given an account and access to the course site. If your instructor has not yet published the course you will not be able to access it and the course will not appear on the Canvas dashboard.
For Faculty

How do I enroll in Online Teaching with Canvas?
Before you can use Canvas for your courses and projects at Foothill you must first participate in the Online Teaching with Canvas course in which you will learn how to use Canvas to build your own Canvas course.

How do I request a Development or Project site?
If you need to create a new course we recommend that you request a Development site to build your course. After the course site has been created you can import it into your live course.

You can add and remove sections from your live Canvas course from within MyPortal.
