The Testing & Assessment Center provides key services to help you begin your academic journey with confidence. We offer course placement guidance under AB 705, support for students taking the Ability to Benefit exam, proctoring for make-up tests, and assistance with accommodated testing through the Disability Resource Center.

Ability to Benefit (ATB) Exam

The Ability-to-Benefit Test or “ATB Test" is an all-inclusive, non-proctored exam designed by the U.S. Department of Education to help identify students who possess the basic skills necessary to succeed in a post-secondary education program, but who lack a high school diploma. For questions about the Ability to Benefit Exam, contact us.

For Faculty: Requesting Proctoring Services

Please note: Only faculty can make a request for scheduling an exam for FOL courses.

Foothill Online Learning (FOL) faculty can request proctoring services from the Testing & Assessment Center.

  • Visit the Online Learning website to schedule FOL exams through the Testing & Assessment Center.
  • Students can bring the FOL Faculty Request Form for Proctoring Services to faculty office hours to complete with faculty.
  • Faculty can then submit the form via email to fhtesting@fhda.edu three days in advance of the requested exam date.

AB unnecessary delays and hurdles during placement. AB 705 is a rule that makes sure you’re placed into classes where you can succeed without unnecessary delays. Colleges look at what you already know from high school to recommend the best starting point in Math, English, and ESLL.
