AB 1705 Placement & Support

AB 1705: Your Fast Track to Graduation

AB 1705 is a California law designed to help you begin your college journey in the classes that count—transfer-level English and Math. By starting at the right level from day one, you can save time, save money, and stay on track toward your degree or transfer goals.

Experience Higher Success Rates in College

If you begin in transfer-level courses, you're significantly more likely to complete them than if you start in remedial classes.

  • Stronger Math Outcomes: If you start directly in transfer-level math (with added support when needed), you're likely to see much higher success. Nearly 4 in 10 students pass transfer-level math with support, compared to only 8% who start in remedial courses.
  • Easier Transfer Pathways: Meet CSU and UC transfer requirements sooner because you're completing transfer-level English and Math earlier in your academic journey.
  • Personalized Support: Under AB 1705, you’ll receive targeted help, from tutoring to embedded instructional support, so you don’t have to figure things out alone.
  • Graduate Sooner: Complete your degree or transfer requirements in less time and save money by skipping classes that you don't need.
