President's Board Responsibilities

To develop and recommend to the ASFC Campus Council such legislation, policies, codes, regulations, ASFC activities, and declarations as may be necessary to effectively implement, develop and coordinate ASFC activities and programs in the areas of Parliamentary law, documents recording proceedings, Institutional Research, Student Rights and Affirmative Action.
- Serve as the chief executive officer of the ASFC.
- Be the presiding officer of the ASFC Campus Council meetings.
- Be an ex-officio voting member of all the ASFC boards, commissions and subsidiary units.
- Assume such other duties as may devolve to his/her office, or as may be assigned to his/her office by the ASFC Campus Council.
- Be the chief executive officer of the President's Cabinet, which assists him/her duties.
- ASFC Parliamentarian (non-voting) — OPEN
Prepare for meetings by studying parliamentary procedure. Attend Campus Council meetings every Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. Support ASFC members in parliamentary procedure during meetings. This position requires prior ASFC membership. - ASFC Secretary (non-voting) — CLOSED
Take accurate minutes at weekly ASFC Campus Council and Budget Commission meetings. Post minutes and distribute information in compliance with Board Policy and state law. Provide receptionist support in the ASFC Office for at least 14 hours per week. Update the ASFC library with agendas and minutes. Work with the Vice President of Administration to monitor and distribute office supplies. - Governing Documents Archivist — OPEN
Create and chair the ASFC Governing Documents Committee as needed. Review and explore improvements to the ASFC By-Laws. Present at least one optimization suggestion per quarter in a well-written proposal that includes explanation and prototype language. Maintain records and advocate for student seats on shared governance committees. - Student Rights Officer — CLOSED
Create and chair the ASFC Student Rights Committee. Represent ASFC on the Foothill President's Committee of Cultural Diversity. Work closely with faculty, staff, and administrators responsible for Affirmative Action, Student Rights, and Gender Equity. - Equity and Inclusion Officer — OPEN
Chair the ASFC Equity and Inclusion Committee. Coordinate Town Halls and events with the Student Trustee. Represent ASFC on the President's Committee of Cultural Diversity. Collaborate with the Sunnyvale Center Event Coordinator to ensure inclusion. Work with faculty, staff, and administrators responsible for equity, diversity, and inclusion. Partner with the Governing Documents Officer to fill and advocate for student seats on shared governance committees.
