Cybersecurity Lab
What is the Cybersecurity Lab?
The Cybersecurity Lab is Foothill’s space for learning real-world security skills, from network defense and secure systems to ethical hacking, data protection, and digital privacy. As a student, gain hands-on experience with tools, simulations, and the practices that working professionals use to protect systems and data.
The Cybersecurity Lab, along with 6 other Technology Labs, plus the ProtoLab (Prototype Lab), make up the Emerging Technologies Institute (ETI).

Hands-On, Real-World, Exploratory Cybersecurity Education
Inside the Cybersecurity Lab you can:
- Explore cutting-edge tools and environments for network security, system hardening, and cyber-defense.
- Run simulations to test vulnerabilities, intrusion detection, and threat mitigation in a safe lab environment.
- Practice ethical hacking, penetration testing, and forensic analysis under the supervision of or as a part of your coursework.
- Work on class projects or independent experiments. Build your own security-proof-of-concept, test real-world scenarios, or collaborate on research.
- Attend workshops, trainings, and demo sessions designed to help both beginners and advanced students.
- Build skills that align with the evolving industry standards and certifications (for example, foundational concepts similar to what you’d learn in a course like “Cybersecurity Fundamentals” at Foothill).
